Rapeseed Oil vs. Canola Oil

While rapeseed oil and canola oil are often used interchangeably, there are important distinctions. Canola oil is a specific type of rapeseed oil that has been bred to contain less than 2% erucic acid and low levels of glucosinolates. This makes canola oil suitable for human consumption and gives it a favorable nutritional profile.

Standard industrial rapeseed oil (with higher erucic acid content) is used in non-food applications including lubricants, hydraulic fluids, and as a feedstock for biodiesel production. We supply both food-grade low-erucic rapeseed oil (canola quality) and industrial-grade rapeseed oil to serve different market segments.

Our food-grade rapeseed oil is cold-pressed or expeller-pressed to preserve natural nutrients and flavor. It is rich in omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids, Vitamin E, and has one of the lowest saturated fat contents of any cooking oil. With a smoke point of 204°C (400°F), it performs well in roasting, baking, and medium-heat cooking applications.

Sustainability & Environmental Commitment

Rapeseed is considered one of the more sustainable oilseed crops. It requires relatively low inputs of water and fertilizer compared to other oil crops, and it serves as an excellent break crop in rotation systems that improve soil health for subsequent cereal crops.

Our commitment to sustainability extends throughout our operations. We utilize energy-efficient refining equipment, waste heat recovery systems, and responsible waste management practices. Spent bleaching earth is recycled for use in animal feed, and oilseed meal by-products are sold as high-protein animal feed ingredients, ensuring minimal waste from our production process.
